Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near Coachella

A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Friday afternoon 18 miles from Coachella, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 3:34 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 1.2 mile. According to the USGS, the epicenter was 18 miles from Indio, 18 miles from Twentynine Palms and 101 miles from San Diego.

In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
