Man's decapitated body found near hospital in Culver City

Approximate location of body shown in black.A man's decapitated body was discovered Monday afternoon in Culver City near a busy intersection by Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, officials said.

The body of the unidentified man was found by a passerby who immediately alerted police shortly after 3 p.m. to the area of Washington and Inglewood boulevards, said Culver City Police Lt. Ron Izuka.

The body was in an area with bushes. Izuka said "the body was decapitated, but we are not sure at this point how the man died."

Izuka said the investigation is in its early stages.
