Dead newborn in Industry leaves investigators searching for clues

Authorities are investigating the death of a newborn baby found lifeless in the City of Industry on Monday afternoon.

It was not immediately clear how the newborn died, said Deputy Aura Sierra of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, but the infant was pronounced dead at the scene in the 14000 block of Valley Boulevard after investigators arrived about 2:20 p.m.

Sierra said it was unclear who alerted authorities to the newborn and that the investigation was continuing.
