Camarillo students steal codes, break into lockers, police say

It is not such a very Merry Christmas for three Camarillo High School students arrested last week on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy after they allegedly procured the master locker combination list and broke into dozens of lockers.

The students were arrested Dec. 19 in connection with 17 burglaries reported between September 2012 and November 2012, Ventura County sheriff's officials said.

Students reported that their gym lockers were broken into and their cellular telephones and other expensive electronic equipment had been stolen.

An investigation by Camarillo detectives and Camarillo High’s school resource officer found that a master list of the lock combinations had been comprised.

Sheriff's detectives say one of the juveniles was able to obtain the list and coordinated with the other two juveniles to break into the lockers while the victims were in gym class. Most of the stolen property has been recovered.

 The three juveniles were cited and released to their parents pending their court hearings.
