Police are investigating whether the suspect reportedly hiding in a Cal State Fullerton building is tweeting from the campus.

An individual calling himself Marquise Fivestar @FivestartheG has been posting updates every few minutes on Twitter, bragging about eluding the police and asking for a friend to pick him up.

Officials are tracking the tweets, but there is no assurance that the posts are legitimate, said Sgt. Michael Hines of the Fullerton Police Department

“We’ve got people looking into it,” Hines said. “But at this point, we haven’t determined if it’s the same guy.”

@FivestartheG began to send out a slew of tweets about 6:15 p.m. Among them: ‘I have been here planning the whole time don’t you think I want to go home too ? But I’m never going to jail Police wasting they time lol I’m not dumb enough to stay on campus.’

Students and staff have been locked down on campus since 4 p.m., when police began to search for a suspect involved in an armed robbery of a pawnshop in Moreno Valley.

The incident began about 3 p.m., when five men robbed Empire Jewelry and Loan. They shot an employee, who remains in stable but critical condition, then fled in a gray Lexus. Leading multiple police agencies on a chase that spanned Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and Los Angeles counties, the group of men stopped in Fullerton.

There, two men were taken into custody and two escaped. One is believed to be hiding inside a building at the university. Police locked down the campus about 4 p.m., focusing on Mihaylo Hall, a business and economics building where he was last spotted. SWAT members were clearing the building, room by room, as students and staff remain sheltered inside, blocking doors and windows with furniture.
