Body found in Arizona river may be missing ASU student from O.C.
Search crews in Arizona believe that they have found the body of a missing Arizona State University student from Orange County.
Authorities say a body recovered from the Salt River on Sunday could be that of ASU freshman Jack Culolias, 19, of Brea.
Two private search groups were looking for Culolias when one group spotted a body floating near the spot where one of his shoes was found about two weeks ago. Police said the body pulled from the water was wearing a single red shoe, leading to the "strong possibility" it was Culolias.
The county medical examiner will have to identify the body, which had apparently been in the water for an extended period, according to authorities.
Culolias was last seen Nov. 30 after being kicked out of a Tempe bar during a party sponsored by the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Campus police said his friends saw him heading to a taxi cab and never saw him again.
The Arizona Department of Liquor Licensing and Control is reviewing credit card purchases from the bar to determine if underage drinking was taking place.
Authorities searched the river north of Tempe Marketplace using underwater cameras and radar equipment after Culolias' disappearance but came up empty.
