Woman dies in Newport Beach house fire
A woman died after a house fire in Newport Beach on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday in the 2200 block of Heather Lane and discovered the woman dead inside the home, according to Battalion Chief Chip Duncan.
The cause remains under investigation, authorities said. Authorities did not name the victim pending notification of next of kin.
Costa Mesa firefighters helped with the efforts to put out the blaze, and it was contained at 11:18 a.m., Duncan said.
