Tsunami risk low after 7.4 Guatemala earthquake
Officials said that the risk of a Pacific Ocean tsunami was low after a 7.4 earthquake struck Wednesday morning off the coast of Guatemala and Chiapas, Mexico.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
Officials said they doubted the quake would cause a "destructive, widespread tsunami" to California and other areas along the Pacific Coast but said it's possible an earthquake could cause tsunamis near the epicenter.
Last month, a powerful quake struck British Columbia, prompting alerts of a small tsunami in California, but it never materialized.
