Suspected arsonist in fatal Pasadena fire charged with murder
A man suspected of causing a fiery explosion in a Pasadena house that killed two men and severely injured a third has been charged with murder, the L.A. County district attorney's office said Tuesday.
Garth Allen Robbins was charged with two counts of murder and 15 counts of attempted murder. He was expected to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
Robbins lived at the home on 1385 El Sereno Avenue in Pasadena that erupted in flames at 2 a.m. Thursday.
Sixteen residents escaped the fire. The property, which was zoned for single-family use, was apparently operating as a boarding house in violation of local codes, according to officials.
