November 24, 2012 |  8:51 am

PumpkinA 51-year-old woman was hit by a pumpkin in a what Stockton police described as a drive-by assault.

The incident happened late Thanksgiving night when a small, white sedan drove by the woman and someone inside hurled a pumpkin at her, according to Fox 40.

The woman had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. She is said to be in stable condition.

"You gotta factor in how fast the car was driving and, also, the person that was throwing the pumpkin out of the vehicle," Officer Joe Silva told Fox 40. "It did strike her right in the middle of the chest."

Pieces of pumpkin could still be found at the scene Friday.
