Police name ex-boyfriend as person of interest in Santa Ana slaying

November 15, 2012 |  5:42 am

Santa Ana police have named the ex-boyfriend of a woman found stabbed to death in an alley as a person of interest in the crime.

Authorities said they are searching for Luis Antonio Garcia Morales of Santa Ana, who is believed to be the ex-boyfriend of Maria Isabel Cerrillo, the 21-year-old woman whose body was discovered Tuesday evening in an alley between Laurel and Jackson streets.

Family members told KTLA that Cerrillo had tried to cut off the relationship with Morales but that he later wanted her back.

"She had no interest in that relationship," Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told KTLA. "It's their belief that he lured her to that neighborhood and that's when the crime was committed."

Morales, who reportedly told his employer on Wednesday that he had a family emergency and was headed to Mexico, is described as about 5-foot-8 and weighing about 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the crime or Morales' whereabouts is asked to call the Santa Ana Police Department at (714) 245-8665.
