A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday when he collided with a slow-moving Big Blue Bus in Pacific Palisades, authorities said.

The cyclist was pinned under the bus in the 16900 block of W. Sunset Boulevard after the 10:33 a.m. crash, said investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department. The unidentified rider died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The bus had just pulled out near the corner of Sunset and Marquez Avenue and was making a left turn onto the boulevard at the time of the crash, said Suja Lowenthal, a spokeswoman with the bus company.

No passengers were aboard at the time and the bus driver was not hurt, she said.

Lowenthal said shuttle buses were dispatched to the Temescal Canyon area Tuesday afternoon to pick up Palisades Charter High School students who normally take the bus home.
