A man and woman who had been missing after a weekend excursion to Joshua Tree National Park have been found safe, family members told KTLA Wednesday.

Authorities said they had been searching for Helen Melnyk of Lakewood and Tony Nosow of Landers since family members reported that they failed to return from a trip to the park.

The two had planned to visit the park on Saturday and told family members that they would return in a few hours.

When they did not return by Sunday night, family members filed a missing persons report, authorities said.

No details have been released about where they were found. Melnyk’s daughter, Kristina, told KTLA that the two were hungry and dehydrated but did not have any injuries.
