Suspect held in fatal Long Beach hit and run

Long Beach police arrested a man Sunday suspected in a fatal hit-and-run accident earlier in the day.

Robert Alleman, 48, of Long Beach, is being held in the Long Beach city jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, said Nancy Pratt, a police spokeswoman.

The accident occurred at 12:45 a.m. at Pacific Coast Highway and Junipero Avenue. Adolfo Lopez-Perez, 37, was walking across PCH when he was hit by a 1997 Geo Prism, police said. The driver of the Geo abandoned the car nearby.

Police later received information that the suspected driver was at a home on Spaulding Street, Pratt said. Officers went to the home and arrested Alleman, police said. He is being held in lieu of  $50,000 bail.
