Lindsay Lohan to be charged with lying to Santa Monica police

Lindsay Lohan will be charged Thursday with multiple misdemeanors for allegedly lying to Santa Monica police in connection with a traffic accident in June on Pacific Coast Highway, sources familiar with the case said.

The charges to be announced Thursday morning come hours after the ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘Parent Trap’ actress was arrested on suspicion of a misdemeanor assault by New York City police following an early morning altercation at a nightclub there.

The charges related to the Santa Monica case would mean an automatic revocation of her 2011 parole in connection with a conviction for shoplifting from a Venice jewelry store. Whether that results in jail time is a decision that will be made by a judge.

Lohan already has been sent to jail several times for violating the terms of her probation. But she eventually complied with the terms set down by L.A. County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner.

Santa Monica prosecutors had been weighing charges against Lohan for weeks after police said they found evidence she lied when she claimed she was not behind the wheel of a Porsche that collided with a dump truck in June.

Santa Monica police Sgt. Richard Lewis told The Times earlier this month the department’s investigation had determined Lohan was driving the Porsche, contradicting statements the actress made to law enforcement officers after the crash. ALSO:
