LAPD releases sketches of victim, abductor in reported kidnapping
The reported kidnapping of the girl, who was said to have been dragged away kicking and screaming, prompted a massive search operation Tuesday in the rugged terrain surrounding the El Sereno Recreation Center.
Two witnesses called police about 8 p.m. Monday to report what appeared to be a kidnapping in progress, according to authorities.
They said the girl appeared to be about 15 and was dragged into the brush that surrounds the park by a man between the ages of 18 and 21.
The search was called off Tuesday afternoon, but Los Angeles Police Department detectives were continuing their investigation.
Police said that no girl matching the victim's description had been reported missing in the area. Search teams uncovered leggings and a pair of Puma tennis shoes.
"While we have located some physical evidence that supports the abduction, we have not found any evidence that the young lady is still in the park," LAPD Chief Charlie Beck told reporters Tuesday afternoon.
Anyone with information is asked to call the LAPD at (877) 527-3247.
