Jackknifed big-rig snarls traffic on 5 Freeway in Glendale

A jackknifed big-rig shut down all lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway and three of the northbound lanes just north of the Colorado Street exit in Glendale, California Highway Patrol officials said Thursday.

Authorities said the truck was traveling north when it hit the center divider around 2:21 a.m. and jackknifed, blocking the northbound lanes and dumping debris across all of the southbound lanes.

CHP officials said the cause of the crash has not been determined and that it is unclear if anyone was injured in the accident.

Officials said they expect it to be several hours before the cleanup is complete and that until then traffic is being diverted onto the 134 Freeway.
