Man is charged in stabbing death of wife more than a decade ago
A 72-year-old Arcadia man was arrested and charged with stabbing his wife to death more than a decade ago, authorities said Monday.
Charlotte S. Cole was stabbed multiple times behind a restaurant in Arcadia in September 2001.
Her husband, Richard Keith Cole, was a person of interest in the case, which went cold for a decade, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
But new evidence was uncovered by department homicide investigators allegedly linking Cole to his wife's slaying, the department said in a statement.
On Sunday, Cole was taken into custody after being charged with murder by the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. He was being held at county jail.
