Shots fired in a parking lot of the Orange County School of the Arts on Friday led to a late-afternoon lockdown as police investigated.

“It’s over now,” said Santa Ana police spokesman Anthony Bertagna. “We did not locate a victim or a suspect.” But they did find some shell casings on the ground, Bertagna said.

Police received a call about 3:20 p.m. According to Bertagna, witnesses said “four gang-member types” had been seen in the school parking lot with a gun, and one of them had squeezed off about four rounds.

One of the suspects then handed the gun to another before they all fled the scene, Bertagna said. It’s not clear what the man was shooting at.

School officials could not be reached for comment early Friday evening.
