Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near Pinnacles

A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Saturday evening seven miles from Pinnacles, southeast of Salinas, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:41 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 13 miles from Tres Pinos, 14 miles from Soledad, 19 miles from Hollister and 62 miles from San Jose City Hall.

In the last 10 days, no other earthquakes magnitude 3.0 or greater have been centered nearby.
