Earthquake: 3.2 quake strikes near Newhall

A shallow magnitude 3.2 earthquake was reported Friday morning four miles from Newhall, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 3:39 a.m. PST at a depth of less than a mile.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was four miles from San Fernando, five miles from Pacoima, five miles from Santa Clarita and 24 miles from the Los Angeles Civic Center.

In the past 10 days, there have been two earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
