Passenger shot, wounded on Metro Blue Line train in Long Beach

L.A. County sheriff's deputies appealed Tuesday to Metro Blue Line riders who may have witnessed the shooting of a passenger on the route.

A 19-year-old man was described as being in stable condition following the 6:16 p.m. Monday shooting. He was aboard a southbound Blue Line train at 5th Street and Long Beach Boulevard when he was struck, according to investigators.

Three or four suspects were seen running east on 6th Street, said deputies, who provide security on Metro light rail and subways.

Witnesses can call (800) 222-TIPS to anonymously provide information to investigators, the sheriff's department said.
