City Beat: Chaplin hat among Hollywood treasures on auction block

So many Hollywood treasures hide in Los Angeles' garages and attics -- kept for posterity by the stars and the large supporting casts that help them shine.
Occasionally, some make it to the auction houses. Last year, Norma Shearer's silk sheets -- monogrammed Norma Shearer Thalberg -- sold for $30,500 at Bonhams.
Sunday morning, Bonhams holds another auction -- featuring a Charlie Chaplin bowler hat and cane, an alto sax once pawned by Charlie Parker, a wicker chair from Rick's Cafe in "Casablanca," and many other mementos from the worlds of film, television, music and animation.
More than 400 lots will be sold. The auction probably will last four hours, with many bidders making their appearance only by phone and online.
