Driver sought in fatal Irwindale hit and run
Cu Lee Nguyen of Baldwin Park was crossing Live Oak Avenue at Stewart Avenue on her way to a bus stop with her husband when she was hit by the car and thrown several feet about 6 a.m. Friday, according to Irwindale police Sgt. Greg Gomez. She died at the scene. Her husband, who was crossing in front of her, was not hurt.
Gomez said the car was an early 2000s gray Toyota Echo with probable front-end damage and a crack on the windshield. The driver is believed to be a woman.
Police were still investigating the conditions of the collision and whether Nguyen or the driver had run a red light. But they said the driver would probably face charges for leaving the scene of an accident.
Anyone with information on the driver or the whereabouts of the vehicle was urged to call Irwindale police at (626) 430-2244.ALSO:
