710 Freeway in Bell Gardens reopened after hot asphalt spill
It took nearly 12 hours, but Caltrans crews on Tuesday opened all northbound lanes of the 710 Freeway in Bell Gardens after mopping up hot asphalt that spilled across the roadway.
The northbound lanes were closed after a big rig landed on its side following a collision just north of Firestone Boulevard involving several cars about 8:38 p.m. Monday, according to authorities.
Three people suffered minor injuries in the crash. The freeway's two right lanes and the Firestone Boulevard onramp were reopened about 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The remaining northbound lanes were cleaned up and reopened about two hours later, according to the California Highway Patrol.
