3 dead in apparent murder-suicide at Torrance senior-living complex
An apparent murder-suicide has left two women and a man dead in a shooting Tuesday in the lobby of a senior citizen apartment complex in Torrance, law enforcement officials said.
Officers were called to the shooting shortly after noon at the Golden West Tower, where authorities found three bodies, said Sgt. Robert Watt of the Torrance Police Department.
Employees at the facility told The Times that the alleged perpetrator was a male resident of the facility, and that one of the victims was a manager of the complex and that the other was a caregiver.
One employee said the alleged shooter was prone to violent outbursts and had expressed anger toward the two who were shot.
Authorities confirmed that one of the victims was an employee at the apartment complex and said that none of the previous threats had been reported to Torrance police.
Watt said that a handgun had been used, but did not know the ages or confirm the identities of any of the dead, and investigators were still looking into possible motives for the killings.
