20-minute wait, but voters undeterred in Santa Monica

Voters on the Westside waited up to 20 minutes to cast their votes Tuesday morning at some polling places.

At Santa Monica's Marine Park, there was a steady line of voters who packed the parking lot to cast their ballots.

Celeste Schipper, 45, said she was there to help give President Obama a chance at four more years in office. "Once you start a job, you end the job," she said.

She said she considered voting for Mitt Romney but that he failed to provide enough specifics on how he would lead the country.

Santa Monica resident Grants Wright, 63, also said he voted for Obama. But regardless of the outcome, Wright said, he hoped that Democrats and Republicans could come together after the election to help heal a nation that has been sharply divided along party lines.
