Express lane on 110 Freeway to open Saturday
Los Angeles County’s first toll lane will open Saturday on the 110 Freeway, allowing drivers with FasTrak accounts to cruise past traffic in the express lane.
The 11-mile toll lane, created using existing carpool lanes, runs between the Harbor Gateway Transit Center/182nd Street and Adams Boulevard.
A car must be equipped with a FasTrak transponder and account to drive in the toll lane. The transponder, which comes with different settings depending on how many people are in the car, will charge drivers 25 cents to $1.40 per mile, depending on traffic speeds and demand.
FasTrak transponders can be ordered online or at one of two locations: 500 W 190th St. in Gardena and 3501 Santa Anita Ave. in El Monte.
Officials are also working on another 14-mile stretch of toll lanes on the 10 Freeway, between Union Station/Alameda Street and the 605 Freeway. Those lanes are expected to open early next year.
