Woman killed by Amtrak train in Carlsbad

A woman was killed Monday night when she was struck by a southbound Amtrak train in Carlsbad, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.

The incident occurred about 9:30 p.m. in the downtown area of the city, officials said.

The woman was not identified, and no further details of the incident were immediately available.
