A Riverside County man charged with the murder of a woman whose body was found in a suitcase is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.

Joseph David Dorsey, 28, was arrested Tuesday by Mexican authorities near Rosarito.

Dorsey, who served time in state prison, is accused of murdering 47-year-old Christine Stewart, according to the Riverside County district attorney's office.

She was found on Aug 8. in a 3-foot-long suitcase in a San Diego County motel room. Dorsey checked out of the room before investigators found the body, according to authorities.

Investigators believe that Dorsey and Stewart were dating each other and that he killed her at his Lake Elsinore apartment before fleeing with her body to San Diego County, the district attorney's office said in a statement.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.
