UC Riverside chancellor named to head Cal State system

Timothy White

Timothy P. White, chancellor of UC Riverside, was named Thursday as the next chancellor of the California State University system.

White, 63, will be the seventh chancellor to lead the 23-campus system and will succeed Charles B. Reed, who is retiring after 14 years at the helm, according to the announcement made by the Board of Trustees.

White has served as UC Riverside chancellor since 2008 and previously was president of the University of Idaho.

Originally from Buenos Aires, White is expected to assume his new post at the end of December and will receive the same annual salary as Reed -- $421,500, plus a $30,000 supplement from the California State University Foundation.
