Third body found in two months in Stanislaus County canyon

A third body has been found in Del Puerto Canyon in Stanislaus County, authorities said.

The body was noticed by a resident around 6:20 p.m. Saturday, according to Fox40 in Sacramento.

Sheriff’s deputies showed up at the scene and had to climb down 300 feet into the ravine to locate the body.

Detectives worked through the night but could not come up with any witnesses or details about how the body got there.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of death.

Authorities note that while two bodies were found in the canyon back in early August, it’s too early to say if the incidents are related.

The canyon is popular with bicyclists and off-road vehicle enthusiasts and is home to Frank Raines Regional Park.
