Shooting inside crowded Shakey's pizzeria leaves 1 dead

Gunfire erupted in a crowded Shakey's pizza restaurant in Monterey Park on Saturday night, leaving one man dead.

The incident occurred at the Shakey's on the 1900 block of Atlantic Boulevard at about 7 p.m.

KTLA News quoted Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials as saying there was some type of altercation inside the eatery between two parties. It's unclear if anyone was taken into custody or exactly what the motive for the shooting was.

Police sealed off the area around the restaurant.

The victim was pronounced dead the the scene, KTLA reported.
