Refinery flare: In September, David BenAvides was in the South Bay for his daughter's soccer game. He noticed dark clouds of smoke nearby and decided to investigate. His curiosity led him to Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park, where he photographed the flame of an oil refinery's burnoff flare.
