Sewage spill closes part of Dana Point Harbor to swimming
Part of Dana Point Harbor was closed Tuesday to swimming and diving because of a sewage spill, Orange County health officials reported.
The closure affects a quarter-mile area, including Baby Beach and three West Basin docks: “A,” “B” and “C,” said Larry Honeybourne of the Orange County Health Care Agency.
About 1,200 gallons of sewage spilled into the water Tuesday because of a line blockage in the South Coast Water District’s collection system caused by roots, he said.
The blockage was corrected the same day, but the affected area will remain off-limits to water-contact sports until the results of water-quality testing meet state standards for two consecutive days.
