Sun Valley stabbings leave one man dead, another injured

A young man was stabbed to death Saturday and another was injured in a related incident in Sun Valley, authorities said.

Los Angeles police officers responded to the area of Irvine Avenue and Strathern Street about 12:15 a.m. and found the victims, Sgt. Thomas Gahry said.

One was transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he was pronounced dead.

The other suffered a stab wound to his cheekbone. He was transported to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley in Sun Valley and was in stable condition, Gahry said.

No other information was given.
