Newport Beach man arrested in wife's murder; her body is missing
A 48-year-old Newport Beach man is in custody on suspicion of murdering his wife after police went to their home and found signs of foul play but not her body, detectives said Friday.
Peter Gregory Chadwick, a business executive, was arrested Thursday and booked in connection with the killing of his wife, Quee Chadwick. At the time of his arrest, he was driving his Lexus in the San Diego area and had called police there.
A day before, Newport Beach police officers went to his home on Almanzora in Newport Coast to check on the welfare of the family. Detectives say a neighbor alerted authorities after she became concerned for the children when she discovered they had not been picked up from school earlier that afternoon.
When officers entered the home, they saw "evidence of a struggle and possible foul play," police said. Concerned the struggle may have been fatal, police immediately launched a search for the Chadwicks.
Police are not saying whether he confessed to the killing, but said the investigation revealed Quee “Q.C.” Chadwick has been the victim of a homicide. But detectives said they are still searching for her body.
Newport Beach police are conducting a widespread search of the areas believed to have been traveled by Peter Chadwick during the approximately 12 hours prior to his contact with the San Diego police.
