Map L.A.'s broken sidewalks with the Times
Street repair officials contend there is essentially no sidewalk repair program with the city’s budget still in crisis. The total cost of repairs is expected to be $1.5 billion, with at least three years and $10 million needed for a comprehensive survey.
The last time the city spent money on removing and replacing damaged sidewalks was in 2007-08, when $6 million was allocated toward the reconstruction of 26 miles of walkways.
The Times is creating a database of broken, cracked and dangerous sidewalks around Los Angeles. Snap pictures of broken sidewalks around your office, by your home, on the walk to the store or wherever you encounter them.

Readers can submit reports to The Times' database of damaged sidewalks by taking a picture and sending it in one of three ways:
- Uploading it to our online form.
- Sending an email to latimessidewalks@gmail.com with the photo as an attachment.
- Tweeting a photo with the address using the hashtag #lasidewalks.
If you send an email, please let us know the approximate address of the damage in the subject line, and describe the problem in the body of the message.
