Man shot and killed in unincorporated Whittier

A man was fatally shot in the unincorporated area of south Whittier on Friday, and the gunman remains at large, authorities said.

The dead man, whose name has not been released, was shot multiple times in the torso at about 9:35 p.m. in the frontyard of a home in the area, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department release.

The man, who was found with a handgun, was pronounced dead at the scene. No suspect has been identified, authorities said.
