Man arrested in death of woman found in suitcase

A Riverside County man charged in the murder of a woman found in a suitcase was arrested in Mexico, authorities said Tuesday night.

The body of Christine Stewart, 47, was found stuffed inside the 3-foot-long suitcase in a San Diego County motel room in August, authorities said.

Investigators believe that Stewart was allegedly killed by Joseph David Dorsey, an ex-convict who had checked into the room where the suitcase was found, the Riverside County district attorney's office said. At the time, Dorsey and Stewart were dating each other.

Stewart, who lived in Canyon Lake, was reported missing two days before her body was uncovered by homicide detectives, the district attorney's office said in a statement.

Dorsey was arrested near Rosarito on Tuesday afternoon by Mexican law enforcement officials who had been working with an FBI fugitive apprehension team. He will be returned to Riverside County to face felony charges including murder.
