The Los Angeles school board just approved a one-year contract extension for Supt. John Deasy, but he was unable to achieve ambitious performance targets that would have triggered a salary bonus.
Still, in recent weeks, Deasy has consistently celebrated "amazing progress," and he's expected to find more to tout with Thursday's release of school and district scores on state tests. His contract now runs through June 2015 with an annual salary that remains at $330,000.
