Police shoot, wound man in Inglewood

A man was listed in critical condition after Inglewood police officers shot him during a traffic stop early Sunday, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 2:20 a.m. near 103rd Street and Prairie Avenue. Officers shot the man after he “led officers to believe that he was arming himself,” according to a news release from the Inglewood Police Department. It was not clear from the release whether the man was armed.

The man sustained a single gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital, the release said.

The identities of the man and the involved officers were not immediately released.

Inglewood police detectives and Los Angeles County district attorney’s investigators are reviewing the case.
