A Huntington Beach man has been arrested after he allegedly killed his wife, then tried to commit suicide.

Police said they received a call at 9:45 a.m. Monday about a possible suicide attempt at a home in the 15000 block of Huntington Village Lane.

When officers arrived, they found Nelson Tuiolosega with a self-inflicted wound. His wife was found dead, police said. He was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center where he underwent surgery. He is expected to survive.

Police said they later learned that Tuiolosega had contacted family members and threatened to commit suicide.

He is under guard at the hospital and is being held on suspicion of killing his wife, according to a news release.
