Collision slows traffic on westbound 10 Freeway in Monterey Park

A collision between a car and a motorcycle Wednesday on the westbound 10 Freeway is slowing traffic, authorities said.

The car and motorcycle collided about 6:30 a.m. west of State Street, said California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos.

Paramedics responded and the driver of the motorcycle was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, Villalobos said, and the fast lane of the freeway was blocked for some time.

As of 7:45 a.m., the lane had reopened but Villalobos said traffic remained a bit congested.

“Traffic is heavy through the area as you’re leaving the Monterey Park area going into downtown L.A.,” Villalobos said. He said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
