Brother-in-law arrested in slaying of woman, two young children

October 24, 2012 | 11:35 am

Authorities have arrested the 19-year-old brother-in-law of a Rancho Cordova woman who was found dead Tuesday along with two of her young children.

The Sacramento Bee reported that Grigoriy Bukhantsov was arrested on three counts of murder Wednesday and that police described him as a transient who had no address on record.

The woman's husband, who is also the children's father and the suspect's brother, apparently found the bodies when he came home Tuesday. Deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department were called to the home in the 10100 block of Desoto Way at about 3:30 p.m.

The bodies of the woman, who was described as being in her 20s, a 3-year-old girl and 2-year-old boy were all found in one room. The Bee reported that another child, a 6-month-old boy, was found unharmed in another room and that none of the victims has been identified by authorities.

Bukhantsov was booked at Sacramento County Jail and is the only suspect in the killings, according to a report from the Associated Press. The news agency also reported that police said the woman's husband was not a suspect and has been cooperating with authorities.

Sgt. Jason Ramos told the AP that "something bad was brewing for some time" between Bukhantsov and his extended family.
