Earthquake: 3.9 quake strikes near Valle Vista

A shallow magnitude 3.9 earthquake was reported Sunday morning six miles from Valle Vista, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:47 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 10.6 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was seven miles from Idyllwild, 10 miles from Hemet, 19 miles from Palm Springs and 66 miles from San Diego.

In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
