Earthquake: 3.3 quake strikes near San Martin

A shallow magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning five miles from San Martin, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 2:52 a.m. PDT at a depth of 5.6 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was seven miles from Gilroy, eight miles from Morgan Hill, 18 miles from Hollister and 27 miles from San Jose.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
