Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Nice

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Wednesday evening 11 miles from Nice , according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 8:24 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 4.3 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 12 miles from Upper Lake , 12 miles from Lucerne , 27 miles from Ukiah and 83 miles from Sacramento.

In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
