Coast Guard searching off San Diego for boat in trouble

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching an area west of San Diego after U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported receiving a call Sunday afternoon about a boat in trouble off Point Loma.

A Coast Guard helicopter and rescue boat and a Customs and Border Protection boat are searching. The Coast Guard also has issued an urgent call to all boats in the area.

The caller reportedly said that there were five people aboard the boat and that the craft was taking on water. The call was made collect.
