Chula Vista teacher held on suspicion of having sex with student

An English teacher at Chula Vista High School has been arrested on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with a student for two years, police said Tuesday.

Terrance Smith, 32, was arrested at the school. He is in jail on $350,000 bail, with arraignment set for Wednesday.

The victim, now an adult, told police she had a sexual relationship with Smith from 2006 to 2008, according to Capt. Gary Wedge. Police believe Smith may have been involved with other students as well, he said.
